UPDATE MARCH 2014
latest tests on Sterling reveal that with age the heart issue has corrected itself. Recent DCM test using 3d echo cardiographs and Doppler "showed no evidence of leakage in prior area of concern nor in new areas"
June 2013 - Sterling was DCM baseline tested at the Nationals this year. DCM is an age related disease so there would be no evidence of DCM in a dog at 16 months of age. He cleared the DCM test. However upon examination the vet did discover what is called a "blow back" in one of his valves. It is not as serious as a "leaky valve" nor a "floppy" valve, nor is it a murmur. The vet felt that it may be attributable to his extremely fit state, at such a young age and his very slow heart rate. He will be retested next year. In the meantime he quickly got both his majors this past spring in Alabama and then the following weekend in Perry, Ga. He showed very well at the nationals winning his class in Sweeps as well as making the cut in very large BBE class.
