Additonal Information
2010 in review
2010 was a year of ups and down. In 2010 at Yashanti we sadly said good bye to dear family members and pieces of our hearts
BJ's Cricket Bi Jove our house Gremlin Chaser and official puppy Sargent. We miss her everyday
We also said good bye to our dear sweet gentle giant Yashanti's Jewels of the Sun - Carrick

2010 also saw the birth of out last litter of pepper Salt Giant Schnauzers, the birth of our first litter of Saluki's and a continuation of whippet lines. We gained a son in 2010 when our oldest Daughter Jil married Ben. Alix took a 10 day trip to Israel and Madison entered her Senior year in High School. 2011 is off to a terrific start and we look forward to an exciting, event filled year.
A bit of Yashanti history:
Located in Alabaster Alabama Yashanti has been breeding and showing dogs for over 25 years. We have lived in Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Our original Breed is Giant Schnauzers but with the addition of Irish Wolfhounds our lives were changed forever. Schnauzers remain my first love but there is NOTHING quite like life with a sighthound. Today we share our lives with multiple Whippets and Saluki's and they are all such a blessing and a gift. We compete in Lure Coursing events as well as in Conformation and we hope to one day add obedience and rally to our list of accomplishments.
You might ask yourself why people have kennel names. What do they really mean? Over the years I have heard some great stories, ours is not a great story but rather a simple one. After 10 years in purebred dogs we had begun breeding, we owned a top winning male giant schnauzer, CH Theolonius v Silberwald. We didn't want to use "Beth’s giants" as a kennel name. So we gave great thought to this and worked on a name.
Literally translated, Yashanti means "I slept". Figuratively it means "my dream", hence the name Yashanti for our kennel name. Dogs have in fact become my dream. Our kennel tag line has always been Temperament, Power, Substance, Grace, and breed type and to that we hold true.
On these pages you will see many of the dogs who have graced our lives. We are enriched by every single one of them. We have rejoiced in their birth, laughed and applauded at the many moments in their lives, and when it is there time to cross the rainbow bridge, we mourn their loss. Every one of them has left footprints on our heart.
Come share our joy. Come experience Yashanti the way we do, up close, personal, chaotic and quiet but always with honesty. Come laugh with us, share our joys and be touched by those who touch our lives.
Welcome to the world of my dreams, Welcome to Yashanti
