I find it interesting that this page offends some of the other breeders of whippets and salukis.  They question the need for a deposit policy if we are not a commercial kennel.  We post our deposit policy because EVERYTHING that we do is full disclosure.  If you have a question about us or our practices and would like to discuss it further please feel free to call us.  There are always exceptions to every rule and always extenuating circumstances.  However we always feel it best to have a platform from which to engage a discussion.

Amoung the most asked questions that we recieve by folks engaging us on the itnernet first is, how much are our puppies, how do they qualify for one and can they make a deposit to get onto a waiting list.  Many breeders will simply hit the delete button at this point.  But we feel that this is an opportunity to educate the consumer.  While these should not be first engagement questions many folks dont know how to engage otherwise.

Understand, no one gets one of our puppies, of any breed, before we get to know one another, we find a common understanding about the breed in question and we have checked out all manner of things.  There are adoption applications on the site as a way of beginning this dialogue but there is no substitution for face to face and phone to phone conversation.  This page attends to the deposit and waiting list questions only. 

It is our policy here at Yashanti to accept deposits on puppies under the following  partial list of considerations

 

1) We will accpet a deposit after receipt on file of a completed and accepted adoption application

2) while we do not encourage it many folks feel better if they can  may leave a deposit on a future litter.  For those who want that level of assurance or place holder we will accept a deposit of $200 on a future litter

3) when puppies are born deposits of 50% of the asking price are due and owing for us to hold a puppy for you.. Puppies are held in the order that deposits are received and selections by future owners are made between 6-8 weeks of age.  Every consideration is given to preference of sex of pup, and we spend a great deal of time selecting pups based on what you are looking to do with your pup in the future ~ in short we select the puppy together.  Please understand we breed for what we are looking for first, so our selection of  pups that we or our show friends are keeping are made first.  We have plenty of references that you can speak to as to how this process worked for them, and turned out the best for everyone. 

SIDE NOTE:  When a litter is born that from day one you can select a puppy, this is a clear sign that this breeder has bred just to make more puppies, I would seriously question this breeder and why they bred, what testing they do and what their commitment to the breed is long term.

Back to subject of why we take deposits

 

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT A DEPOSIT IS A TWO WAY STREET,

YOU ARE COMMITTING TO ONE OF OUR PUPPIES - as such this puppy is not being offered to others, it is not being advertised and while it may appear in photos on our website it is never listed as available.

WE ARE COMMITTING THAT AT 6 WEEKS YOU CAN SELECT A PUPPY AND WE WILL HAVE ONE FOR YOU - we do not over sell litters anticipating cancellations.  We go to a lot of effort to make sure that the puppy that we select with and for you is the right fit for what you want to do. Keep in mind puppies CANNOT GO HOME until at least 8 weeks of age often later (whippets) and 12 weeks or longer for saluki's particualarly if this is your first saluki.

Having made a commitment to obtain one of our puppies, the following is our deposit refund policy

 

$200.00 on future litters is fully refundable up to two weeks of age on the pup at which point the balance of the deposit to 50% is due and owing, or direction needs to be given as to if you are moving forward with this litter or another litter.

 

50% deposits hold your place in line to select your pup, should you change your mind or have a life incident that prevents you from taking a puppy from the  litter your deposit will be fully refunded.  Here is the schedule for refunds

• cancellation of a deposit up to 6 weeks of age is fully refunded within 48 hoursof notification
• cancellation of a deposit from 6-8 weeks of age is refunded within two weeks
• at anytime a deposit can be forwarded for it's full value against a future litter
• after 8 weeks of age the full amount of the deposit that has been retained  will be returned to the original buyer when the puppy is under contract to a new family.  The retained amount will be returned less expenses  i.e credit card or pay pal fees, advertising, daily living expenses, veterinary bills to name a few .

Please remember you are trusting us to have the right puppy for you, at the right time and to do as we have committed to do.  A deposit represents the beginning of your commitment to your new pup, to love and cherish your pup for the rest of it's long and healthy life.

 

Please note that in the event that any life circumstance ever arises in which you cannot keep your puppy/adult dog.  You are to return that puppy to Yashanti or to gain our assistance in re-homing the dog to the proper home.  This is in our warranty.  In the event that the dog is resold to a new family an y monies received for the dog will be forwarded to you or the charity of your choice less expenses
